The set offered is made up of a core set of seven volumes with the addition of a 1st printing of Vol 1 and Vol 8, for nine volumes in total. Auction records demonstrate that these sets come up rarely, and usually in single volumes, often in poor condition.

Volumes bound in full contemporary calf. The spines in six compartments with five raised bands. Volume One, 1st Impression, with hinges cracked but holding well. Volume Eight with a cracked top hinge. The rest very good with no cracked hinges. Internally very good with occasional foxing and stains. Over-all a pleasing set, hard to find together.
