Biography / Bibliography
Birdsall of Northampton (1792 -1961)
Birdsall of Northampton, with their ink pallet on front pastedown, signed Birdsall Northampton. “Birdsall bindings are quite distinctive and can sometimes be called off the shelf; but their particularity is difficult to analyse. Flat spines without bands, quarter bindings (ie. no leather corners), colour contrast (often brown and blue) between spine and sides, and a certain neat finish all come into it.”
