Condition
The Volume is in Very good Condition bound in full contemporary calf, Cambridge style, with speckled surround and stamped decorations, with the spine divided into six compartments by five raised bands, with gilt stamped decorations to each compartment, lettering in the second compartment from the top, now worn. The front board has been re-attached with a paper hinge, preserving the original spine. With generally clean, well margined leaves, some mild general toning, as well as some small creases and fox marks.

A note from a contemporary: “These reflections ought to be read by all who have any regard for Dr. Burnet, as they clearly account for many things in his conduct and writings which his ill-wishers have objected to him.”.

Thomas Foley, 1st Baron Foley FRS (8 November 1673 – 22 January 1733), of Witley Court, Great Witley, Worcestershire, was an English landowner, ironmaster and Tory politician who sat in the English and British House of Commons from 1694 until 1712, when he was raised to the peerage as Baron Foley as one of Harley’s Dozen.
